Unsettling new information about the morning a 16-year-old is accused of stabbing his mother and two pets in their Mishawaka home has recently come to light.
Caden Rutledge is accused of stabbing his mother many times
On a report from CBS Austin on Friday morning, it’s alleged that Caden Rutledge repeatedly stabbed his mother.
At 5:30 in the morning, police were dispatched to Oakside Road after receiving a 911 call from Rutledge’s mother on Friday.
According to court records, the dispatcher overheard her saying, “Caden, don’t kill me.”
She managed to take her son’s phone to call 911 and escape to the neighbor’s house, where she was located, according to the mother, who subsequently told police that her son had attempted to prevent her from calling for help by removing her cell phone.
She allegedly received 13 stab wounds and had a collapsed lung. When last checked, she was in critical condition after being rushed to the hospital.
According to court records, Rutledge’s mother had contacted her sister and urged her to visit about one in the morning due to Rutledge’s actions.
When she first came, she claims Rutledge called her a monster and departed at five in the morning when she prayed for him to calm down.

Rutledge told officers he felt killing the devil inside his mother was the correct thing to do, stabbing his mother
In a report from NBC Montana, stated that Police claimed that during a search of the property, they discovered two stabbed dogs, blood throughout, and a knife on the dining room table.
The dogs were brought to the veterinarian, where one had urgent surgery and received a blood transfusion.
The veterinarians caring for the dogs currently estimate that one of them has a 50/50 chance of surviving.
Rutledge was brought to the Mishawaka Police Department after being detained at his residence.
He allegedly confessed to stabbing his mother and that he had been tricked by Satan, according to police.
Authorities claim Rutledge told them he felt killing the devil inside his mother was the correct thing to do which is stabbing his mother.
Rutledge was arrested and sent to the St. Joseph County Jail on Friday afternoon, according to the police. Two prison officers are said to have been hurt by him.
For attempted murder, aggravated battery, torturing or mutilating a vertebrate animal twice, battery with a deadly weapon, and battery, Rutledge is being prosecuted as an adult.
