Carrie Jones, aged 44 and from Laurel, submitted written not-guilty pleas this week for charges including first-degree murder, being an accessory to a felony, and tampering with evidence, according to court records. Meanwhile, her husband, Jason Jones, aged 43, has also pleaded not guilty to charges including four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of using a firearm to commit a felony, and two counts of first-degree arson.

Carrie Jones is specifically accused of being involved in the death of Gene Twiford, an 86-year-old resident of Laurel, on August 4, 2022. Her husband is charged with killing Twiford, Twiford’s wife, Twiford’s daughter, and another woman from Laurel. He is also accused of setting fire to the victims’ homes.

Carrie Jones allegedly encouraged her husband to confront Twiford due to sexually suggestive comments she claimed he had made over the course of several years

Furthermore, she is accused of assisting him in hiding from the authorities when he was being pursued by the police. Previous testimony provided during a hearing revealed that the Joneses did not have any specific conflicts with the other victims, namely Ebeling and her fiancé, Brian Welch, but found them to be peculiar.

Carrie Jones is scheduled to be arraigned on May 22 at Cedar County District Court, as reported by the Norfolk Daily News. Both Carrie and Jason Jones are currently in custody and are set to appear in court on July 24.
