Hope Amidst Devastation

League 42, dedicated to providing low-cost baseball registration for children, expressed deep sorrow as Jackie Robinson’s life size statue embodying inspiration for many was found irreparably damaged. Wichita City Council member Brandon Johnson described the incident as “heartbreaking” emphasizing the statue’s significance as a symbol of hope within the community.

Despite the tragedy the community remains undeterred in its commitment to rebuilding Jackie Robinson’s life size statue. Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan assuring an imminent arrest emphasized the importance of ensuring a solid case. A truck believed to be linked to the theft has been discovered, further progressing the investigation.

League 42’s director, Bob Lutz, announced plans to move forward by creating a replica of the late James Parsons’ statue using the same material. The mold from Parsons’ work remains viable, and the community is rallying together to support the rebuilding effort through a GoFundMe campaign organized by Lutz, which has already raised over $19,000.
