An Indiana woman arrested after stabbing a Chinese student in the head because of her race will not face attempted murder and other state charges.
Indiana Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Charges After Repeatedly Stabbing Chinese Student
Billie Davis, a 56-year-old Indiana woman, pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder and other charges, including battery using a deadly weapon and aggravated battery, after repeatedly stabbing an 18-year-old Chinese student in the head while on a bus.
The Indiana woman sought an insanity defense to escape the charges she was facing and claimed she had a history of severe mental illness, which prompted the repeated attack on the Chinese student, who suffered from multiple stab wounds in the head.
However, the Indiana woman allegedly admitted that she brutally attacked the Chinese student for being Chinese despite her insanity claims, Law and Crime reported.

Victim Details the Brutal Attack She Got from the Indiana Woman
During the investigation, authorities discovered that the victim and the Indiana woman never interacted on the bus. When the victim was standing near the bus door, readying to get off, the Indiana woman suddenly stabbed her in the head multiple times.
The charges of attempted murder and others were dropped off due to her insanity defense; however, the Indiana woman still faces charges of federal hate crime after the brutal attack has caused concerns in the Asian communities in the state.
