Officers discovered the gruesome scene of one child in the bathroom and another in the kitchen, both covered in blood, with Kouchoukos found unresponsive nearby.
The victims, aged 4 and 1, were promptly rushed to a local hospital and later transferred to Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago for further treatment. Meanwhile, prosecutors revealed that Kouchoukos, also soaked in blood, showed no responsiveness to questions or commands.
