Former UCLA Gynecologist Convicted for Sexual Abuse
James Heaps, a former UCLA gynecologist, was convicted of multiple charges, including sexual exploitation, sexual penetration, and sexual battery by fraud, while working at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
The former UCLA gynecologist had been reported from 1983 to 2018 by not less than seven women for sexual assault, sexual abuse, and sexual misconduct during their examinations and appointments at the UCLA student health center where he worked at.
According to his victims, the former UCLA gynecologist was disguising his terrible actions as part of the medical treatment and continued sexually abusing them while telling them disgusting comments inside the health center, Daily News reported.

Former UCLA Gynecologist’ Victims Receive Settlement Payments
During the investigation, the former UCLA gynecologist’s victims claimed they had been sending complaints about the abuse inside the university’s vicinity to UCLA.
However, the university ignored their complaints and did not even bother reporting or firing Heaps, who continued practicing—and sexually abusing patients—until his retirement.
Following Heap’s conviction, the university paid almost $700 million in settlement payments to hundreds of the former UCLA gynecologist’s patients.
