Former Seminary Professor Files Lawsuit Against SBC for Defamation

A former seminary professor named Davis Sills filed a lawsuit against the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) leaders and members after allegedly defaming him amidst the sexual abuse issues.

The former seminary professor admitted to having an affair with his student, Jennifer Lyell, and detailed how he sexually abused the victim, claiming he had been repenting for the sins he did in 2018.

After admitting to the sexual abuse allegations, the former seminary professor believed that the SBC leaders and committee members worked together on shaming and slandering him, which led to him losing his job, Religion News Service reported.

Former Seminary Professor Loses Job Over Sexual Abuse, Defamation

Due to the sexual abuse issues surrounding the former seminary professor, he had a hard time looking for another work in several religious organizations, where he tried to apply and was only labeled as a criminal.

The former seminary professor lost his job after the shameful incident and tried to look for another career where he could start a new life away from his past issues. He is currently running a real estate business in Mississippi.
