A Christmas Eve gangland shooting at Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown, west Dublin, killed a 47-year-old man and badly injured another.
Dublin Steakhouse Attack: Gang Feud Erupts
The attacker, 26-year-old Tristan Sherry, targeted a father and son. Sherry, from a local drug trafficking organization led by ‘Mr. Flashy,’ was overcome and stabbed by his intended victims.
The seriously injured man is being treated at Connolly Memorial Hospital with at least one neck gunshot wound. Irish police fear retribution attacks and innocent bystanders joining a gang feud after the incident. Police are concerned because one group has offered a financial reward for information on rival gang members’ whereabouts, putting informants and their families at risk.
The incident may be tied to a 2019 Corduff drug gang battle in west Dublin. A strong drugs gang from Corduff and ‘Mr. Flashy’s Finglas gang is feuding. The latter organization is linked to the Westies gang, which has committed organized crime and narcotics trafficking for two decades. The issue is complicated, with former gang members now supporting the other.
Dublin Steakhouse Tragedy: Increased Police Presence
The Gardaí (Irish police) have enhanced uniform patrols in Dublin, along with armed backup, to ensure public safety.
Ireland’s justice minister, Helen McEntee, sympathized with the victims and denounced the senseless Christmas violence. Blanchardstown, known for its closeness, is in shock and amazement after the tragedy.
Police are seeking information about the two suspects who left in a white Audi as investigations continue. The Irish police are on high alert for an escalating rivalry and the threat to innocent lives, underlining the necessity for prompt action to stop the bloodshed.
