Two Cold Rape Cases Solved Because of DNA Recovered in the Coffee Cup of A Michigan Man

A Michigan man was arrested recently for two rapes that allegedly transpired in golf courses more than two decades ago after investigators matched the DNA found in the crime scene and DNA in a coffee cup used by a Michigan man.

The rape cases went unsolved for more than two decades after police authorities failed to identify the suspect even if it was confirmed in 2004 that DNA found at both rape incidents was a match.

In 2021, investigators found another solution to find and identify the suspect. Investigators using DNA Identification were able to get the results to three people: a Michigan man and his two brothers. Investigators finally found a coffee cup Michigan Man used, and last week it was confirmed matched with DNA found at both crime scenes. Police Investigators announced.

DNA is a great help in solving Cold Cases

Michigan Man was arrested recently in his home. On April 18, the Michigan man was arraigned in court in connection with a 1999 rape case in Twin Lakes Golf Club and a 2000 rape case in Penn State University golf course and set to be charged with rape, aggravated indecent assault, and sexual assault.

Michigan Man attacked his victims in places with no cameras or witnesses. Police authorities described Michigan Man as a golfer and businessman.

Police Authorities believed that Michigan Man had another victim. The Michigan Man case is the most current case among the increasing number of cold crimes solved by DNA.
