Aurielle Montgomery, a 21-year-old woman from Baltimore, was arrested by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force on Thursday morning in Pikesville, Maryland, in connection with the death of her one-year-old daughter, Nyemia Gilliard.
Baltimore mother arrested for allegedly murdering her one-year-old daughter
According to the Baltimore Police Department, Montgomery allegedly murdered Gilliard on October 4, 2022, at their residence on Ellicott Driveway. Montgomery and another person, whose name was not disclosed in the charging documents, were sleeping in the same room as the child. The person found the child “unresponsive and cold to the touch” and lying in an awkward position with her legs bent under her, face-up.
The autopsy report revealed that the child suffered multiple signs of trauma and severe internal injuries
The doctors concluded that the injuries sustained by Nyemia Gilliard were serious enough to directly cause her death, and her death was ruled a homicide.
Montgomery was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility by detectives, where she faces charges of first-degree murder. According to the police, Montgomery is now in custody and awaiting trial. The tragic death of Nyemia Gilliard has left many in the community heartbroken, and the police department has assured the public that they will continue to investigate the matter to ensure justice is served.
