Avalon’s Torture-Murder Case: Suspect Mother And It’s Boyfriend Sentenced To Life In Prison

Heather Maxine Barron a California woman and boyfriend Kareem Ernesto Leiva was sentenced to life in prison and will not be given parole. The two is the suspect in the death of Anthony Avalos, a 10-year-old boy who was tortured and abused.

Avalos suffered many years of physical, sexual and emotional abuse by his own mother and its boyfriend. They are convicted of first-degree murder in March. According to one of the paramedics Avalos was taken to the hospital unresponsive and died because of cardiac arrest with traumatic injury way back on June 20, 2018. The court found Leiva was the perpetrator of the lethal abuse, while Barron supported him. His half-siblings watch the abused for over six years they even testified and even said that they were also punished. The 2 suspects should face the death penalty but Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said that his office will no longer offer capital punishment after he won the 2020 election.

Leiva, Barron’s boyfriend was also sentenced to life in prison, they were denied probation and ordered to pay $7,500 in victim’s compensation. Anthony Avalon’s half-sister said that it is very heartbreaking that Avalon was abused and killed by her own Mother. She even called Barron a “monster”.

While reading the statement her sister broke down in tears while her mother Barron was also seen crying and wiping her tears. Anthony Avalon’s half-sister said that he was already freed from abuse and torture. The identity of her sister was not seen in the media because she is a minor and also an abuse victim. Victor Avalos, father of the victim said that he feels guilty about what happened to Anthony, he even said that they even talk about Anthony’s custody and he is willing to take care of him but Barron denied it. Victor Avalos and Anthony’s Aunt even sued the county’s Department of Children and Family Services in 2019 for not responding to many abuse reports. The case was already settled last year and they will be paid a $32 million agreement, according to the family’s attorney, Brian Claypool.
