On March 21, Steven Cozzi, a lawyer in Florida disappeared, he is also handling a case against Dr. Tomasz Roman Kosowski, a plastic surgeon and it is believed that the latter killed the lawyer. It triggered Florida prosecutors for the death penalty to be imposed against the surgeon.

Cozzi entered his office on March 21 and never got out. A CCTV footage shows that at about 8:32 am of the same day Kosowski entered the office carrying large box and backpack with gloves and a few minutes later Cozzi arrived. At 10:22am the man believed to be Kosowski exited the building carrying the same things with a red bag or blanket but wearing new set of clothing.

Cozzi was never seen leave the building and his personal belongings are still inside the office. Kosowski drove a gray Toyota Tundra and passed by a traffic camera going home and it caught an image that would appear to be a human body. during search, the following were found:

  • mask
  • sun gun
  • brass knuckles
  • duct tape
  • syringes
  • and, paralyzing agent.

The prosecutors believed Kosowski killed Cozzi due to financial gain which is the case he handles. Pinellas County State Attorney’s office seeks for the imposing of death penalty against Kosowski due to the aggravating circumstances:

  • that the crime itself is heinous
  • intent to kill
  • carefully planned

only 8 votes out 12 jury is needed to whether or not impose the death penalty.
