2 California Men Wrongfully Convicted Declared To Be Innocent And Will Be Compensated For $900,000

After 17 years of serving in prison, 2 California Men are declared innocent after being wrongfully convicted and charged with attempted murder in 2004.

According to the California Judge, these 2 men who were declared innocent has been serving prison for a long period of time will be paid $140 for every day they spent behind bars and that’s worth $900,000. 2 men who were wrongfully convicted were Dupree Glass and Juan Rayford, their trial began in October after a state appeals court panel left their convictions and they were freed in 2020. The defense said that the proceedings included the confession of the actual shooter Chad Brandon McZeal, which is a gang member and now serving a life sentence of murder in an unrelated case.

After the California judge announced they were innocent the 2 men embraced each other and their attorneys outside the courthouse celebrating their victory, family, and friends cheered them for being so strong and brave.

Rayford, while holding his baby said that it is an amazing feeling to have their records finally cleaned up and their reputations have been restored. He said that he is always praying for the day to come after 17 years of being locked up and now he can already say that he is free. He also knew that he was innocent and that he had not committed any crime. Glass and Rayford were 17 years old and 18 years old when they were arrested in a shooting incident involving a group of teens in Lancaster, north of Los Angeles. Both of them were charged with 11 counts of attempted murder and sentenced to 11 consecutive life sentences. Now, Glass is already 26 years old and Rayford is 37 years old and both are drivers at Walmart.
