Three people, including two, escaped prisoners, were murdered by Jordanian security forces in a gunfight in a remote part of the nation, according to reports released on Sunday.
According to the Public Security Directorate, the two inmates had just lately escaped from custody, sparking a search that resulted in the gunfight. The third victim was wanted in connection with certain activities, the directorate stated and had indicated affiliations with a militant group.
In 2022, one of the two escaped inmates who were slain by security forces was accused of killing a top police official.
Abdul Razzaq Abdel Hafez Al Dalabeh, one of the security forces, died amid fights with protestors over the exorbitant cost of fuel. While attempting to detain suspects in connection with Al Dalabeh’s death, three additional security personnel perished.
The firing on Saturday allegedly took place in a dangerous area in the southeast of the kingdom, according to the directorate and security forces. The statement said that authorities were looking into the two men’s prison break.
The neighborhood where Al Dalabeh was killed is impoverished and neglected, with high unemployment. There have already been sympathies shown for the radical Islamic State organization in the area. That is according to Jordanian security forces verified by authorities.
Authorities will look into the killing of three people by Jordanian security forces, including two escaped inmates, further. For the case to be resolved, Jordanian security forces must cooperate.
