Born on December 6, 1992, Johnathan Paul Manziel (/maenzl/ man-ZEL) is an American football quarterback for the FCF Zappers (FCF). He spent two years with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns before playing for the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Montreal Alouettes and the AAF’s Memphis Express.
Career
In 2012, Manziel, a dual-threat quarterback who was heavily recruited out of high school, helped lead the Texas A&M Aggies to their first SEC championship in program history. He became only the fifth player in NCAA history and the first freshman to pass for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in the same season.
He also set other records in the SEC and NCAA Division I FBS. When the regular season concluded, he made history by becoming the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy, the Manning Award, and the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award. Manziel made the most of his first year as a starter, guiding Texas A&M to a Cotton Bowl victory over Oklahoma by a score of 41-13.

Controversy
It appears like Johnny Manziel is shelving any plans he may have had to return to the NFL. The controversial former quarterback for the Cleveland Browns expressed his happiness to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. Having accepted the fact that he probably won’t play in the NFL again, he is now free to focus on other things.
The 27-year-old told the newspaper over the weekend, “I’ve now reached a stage where I’m aiming to seek happiness in life, not happiness on the football pitch.” “I know a lot of people probably want me to come back and play and give it another go, but I don’t know, as far as being a person and figuring out life as a young adult — trying to make it and figure it out — whether I’ve ever been in a better spot than I am right now.”
Going out and grinding on a football field doesn’t matter as much to me as being able to say, “I’m happy and I’m doing the proper things to try to put a smile on my face every day.”
Manziel’s partying habits at Texas A&M and in the NFL were first what drew attention to him. Manziel was picked by the Browns with high hopes in the 2014 NFL Draft, but he was cut less than two years later. Manziel made it obvious that he doesn’t see himself playing professionally again in the foreseeable future. His career is “probably in the past,” he remarked.

Manziel played in the CFL for a short time
