Evidence is mounting that President Biden was involved in his family’s shady overseas business dealings, and testimony from a former associate might make it more difficult for the White House to counter claims of influence peddling and bribery.
Mr. Devon Archer witnessed phone calls with the ‘Big Guy’
Devon Archer, a former Biden family business associate, has been summoned to testify before a House committee probing the family’s international business dealings on Monday.
Mr. Devon Archer, 48, is a key witness to this critical investigation. According to congressional investigators, he negotiated lucrative board positions for himself and the president’s son Hunter Biden at the Ukrainian oil business Burisma.
According to authorities, Mr. Devon Archer collected $3.5 million in wire transfers from Burisma through his company Rosemont Seneca Bohai from 2014 to 2016 and sent more than $700,000 to three of Hunter Biden’s bank accounts.
Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, published an FBI informant’s testimony last week, alleging that Burisma paid Hunter Biden to “protect us through his dad, from all kinds of problems” as it attempted to buy a U.S. oil and gas company.
Mr. Devon Archer may also have the most direct knowledge of the president’s involvement in ceasing a corruption investigation that was pursuing Burisma and preventing its admission into the U.S. energy industry of any American witness.
Mr. Devon Archer was at a 2015 hotel meeting in Dubai with two top Burisma executives when Hunter Biden appeared to demonstrate his power by calling his father and placing him on speakerphone at the table.
According to the New York Post, Hunter Biden called then-Vice President Joseph R. Biden after Burisma CEO Mykola Zlochevsky indicated he needed to talk with Hunter Biden immediately.
According to The Washington Times, Mr. Devon Archer, who is facing prison time for an unrelated securities fraud conviction, will tell House investigators that he witnessed up to two dozen times Hunter Biden calling his father in the sight of business acquaintances.
On April 16, 2014, Mr. Devon Archer met with Mr. Biden in the White House, just days before Mr. Biden traveled to Ukraine and one day after Burisma sent $112,758 to Rosemont Seneca Bohai. On April 22, Mr. Biden arrived in Kyiv alongside Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and delivered a speech to lawmakers condemning Russia’s aggression in Crimea and emphasizing US solidarity with Ukraine.
“We’ve known that President Biden lied about not discussing Hunter’s overseas business dealings,” Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson told The Washington Times. “It certainly wouldn’t surprise me to learn he was far more involved. I hope House investigators will ask Devon Archer what he discussed with then-VP Biden in the White House on April 16, 2014, five days before Biden traveled to Ukraine and six days before Archer joined the board of Burisma.” Highlighting that the dates of the events are not coincidences, he added.
In his blog, he said that Mr. Biden was America’s all-powerful point man in Kyiv when Hunter rapidly gained a place on the board of directors of Burisma Holdings in 2014. It’s a natural gas corporation owned by Mykola Zlochevsky, an oligarch with ties to Moscow who Washington regards as corrupt.
