An early morning mistake disclosed today’s whole showcase lineup, but now Konami has officially revealed its plans for the Silent Hill franchise, putting an end to months of speculation and leaks.
In today’s showcase, which was billed as a Livestream but turned out to be 48 minutes long, we learned about a remake, a new movie, an interactive live experience, some merchandise, and a whole new game set in the Silent Hill universe.
Both Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill F Are Getting Remakes.
The first bit of news was not unexpected: Bloober Team, the developers of Layers of Fear and, more recently, The Medium, is hard at work on a remake of Silent Hill 2.

During the presentation, Konami said two brand new Silent Hill games are in development.
There appears to be no “reset button” in Ascension, making it more like an interactive, multiplayer graphic novel in which players choose the story and the fate of the characters.
The second game, Silent Hill: Townfall, received far less attention, yet it is also being developed by No Code Studio and Annapurna Interactive.

Changes and Continuity
It seems the plot is the same as in the previous films: after James Sunderland’s wife Mary dies, she sends him a mysterious note inviting him to the town of Silent Hill, where they spent their honeymoon.
As James investigates this improbable setting, the town keeps throwing horror after horror at him and the other humans who somehow made it there.
Besides Mary, Laura (a girl Mary met in the hospital), and Maria (Mary’s counterpart in “Otherworld”), the only other humans we see in the trailer are animals.
The game’s original composer, Akira Yamaoka, has returned to his role as music director, and his scores will feature some updates to make them more relevant to modern audiences.
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s soundtrack was a banger, so with the original composer back at the helm of this remake, I have high hopes that the music will be just as great.
