Baker Reagan Mayfield is a quarterback for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League. He was born on April 14, 1995. (NFL).
Career
Mayfield started his football career at Texas Tech before transferring to Oklahoma, where he would go on to play collegiate football and win the Heisman Trophy as a senior. In the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns picked him with the first overall pick.
Mayfield ended the Browns’ 19-game losing run and established a rookie quarterback touchdown record in his first start. In 2020, the Browns had their best season under his leadership.
They made the playoffs for the first time since 2002 and won for the first time since 1994. Mayfield, however, was traded to the Panthers in 2022 owing to his erratic play and tensions with Brown’s management.
When you think he’s finally grown up and made some progress, he takes a step back because he knows deep down that he needs to do something controversial if he wants to be successful.

Controversy
That’s a game that Baker Mayfield enjoys playing, and it’s sure to stir up some controversy.
It’s not like any of us would have expected less of him. His next attempt was to distance himself from the remark. However, once something has been shared online, it is impossible to remove it from public view.
Wishful thinking on your part if you thought he’d go into hiding after the previous controversy. Therefore, when Mayfield went online in the past week to advertise an “off the leash” t-shirt, it was no surprise.
Mayfield is the kind of guy who will never be able to overcome his own limitations, and this incident just served to remind me and many of you of that. Joe Thomas, a future Hall of Famer and legend for the Browns, has commented on the quarterback’s most recent antics.
The former star of Progressive Insurance commercials has a flair for injecting an edge to his character that endears him to his new team’s fans while quickly turning them into his enemies.
Let’s take a glance back at the moments that shaped Mayfield’s life. Personally, I refer to him as “Mr. Controversy.”

Championships
Oklahoma won its third consecutive Big 12 title under Mayfield’s direction on December 2, 2017, defeating TCU by a score of 41-17 in the Big 12 Championship Game, which was played for the first time in six years.
Mayfield was named the game’s most valuable player (MVP), and Oklahoma secured its second playoff berth in as many years. A month later, in the 2018 Rose Bowl, the Sooners were eliminated from championship contention with a 54-48 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.
Mayfield received a near-unanimous vote for the 2017 Heisman Trophy, which he won on December 9.
There were 732 people who voted for him directly, giving him a total of 2,398 points.
In Heisman Trophy terms, that’s good for the third-highest percentage ever (86% of possible points). The fact that Mayfield was a walk-on made him history; no other athlete had ever won the Heisman before.
