Vogue Editor Meets Kanye West Over Backlash Around White Lives Matter T-Shirt

Kanye West claims to have met with a Vogue editor he had derided after she criticized his decision to embroider a racist statement onto garments for his Paris Fashion Week show.

After the rapper featured “White Lives Matter” t-shirts in his Yeezy SZN 9 runway show on Monday, 3 October, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, associate fashion editor of Vogue, criticized him. In retaliation, Ye made an Instagram post making fun of the reporter’s appearance.

He said that he and Ms. Karefa-Johnson had a meeting on Tuesday, 4 October 2022 and that they had “apologized” to each other “for the way we made each other feel.”

The College Dropout (2004), his debut studio album, was a critical and financial success, and he went on to pursue a successful solo career as a rapper. Soon after, he launched GOOD Music.

On his albums, Late Registration (2005), Graduation (2007), and 808s & Heartbreak (2009), West experimented with many instruments and effects, including orchestras, synths, and autotune (2008). His fifth album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010), took inspiration from maximalism, and his sixth album, Yeezus (2013), took inspiration from minimalism, and both were critically and commercially successful.
