A report from UPI on September 29th says: Kevin Bacon, known for his roles in City on a Hill, Mystic River, and Footloose, has signed on to appear in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley.
On Wednesday, Netflix announced that Bacon had been cast, albeit the nature of his role was not specified. Similarly, the streaming service is remaining tight-lipped about the action comedy’s narrative.
The movie, written by Will Beall and directed by Mark Molloy, is in production.
In other words, they’ve officially started making the movie. Cast members John Ashton, Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, and Judge Reinhold are all returning from previous Beverly Hills Cop films.
In the 1984 classic, Murphy played Foley, a street-smart Detroit police investigator who travels to a luxurious California city to investigate the death of his best buddy.
Two sequels, in 1987 and 1994, followed the first film.
