The actors of HBO’s Gentleman Jack, Suranne Jones, and Sophie Rundle, discuss the decision to end the historical drama after two seasons.
Jones and Rundle starred in the BBC co-production Gentleman Jack as Anne Lister and Ann Walker, respectively. From Lookout Point, Anne and Ann moved in together at Shibden Hall as husband and wife in Season 2 of the show. They were keen to merge their estates and establish themselves as a power couple.

Jones wrote on Instagram along with a funny blooper film, “While it is terrible news Gentleman Jack will not be renewed, this program has brought so many together, enabled individuals to tell their stories, offered joy, emotion, and creativity, and given me a real connection to you as its viewers.” “The Piece Hall presently houses a statue of Anne Lister.
A blue plaque commemorating Anne and Ann’s marriage in 1834 can be found in the churchyard of Holy Trinity. On the University of York’s East campus, Anne Lister is the name of a college. Shibden is now more popular than ever, and if you visit Halifax and its neighboring environs, you may find several Anne Lister walks, excursions, and trails.
Jones remarked, “I have never been a part of a production that has had such a profound effect and touched my heart as this one has. Although it wasn’t always the simplest job I’ve had, seeing the response it received was always worthwhile.

In a Statement, the Bbc Expressed Its Delight in “a Show that Has Had a Significant Cultural Impact.
The BBC released a statement saying, “We are incredibly proud of Gentleman Jack, a show that has had a great cultural influence, and we are in discussions with Sally about what’s next.”
A statement from the production company Lookout Point also praised the achievement of “bringing Anne Lister marching into the 21st Century. Here’s to never conforming to the way people think a woman should look, think, or be.”
