A year after she was charged with wire fraud in connection with telemarketing, Jen Shah admitted her guilt. Andy Cohen doesn’t know what to make of it.
Radio Andy host Andy Cohen expressed his confusion
On Tuesday’s episode of the Sirius XM show, “Radio Andy” The 54-year-old Bravo producer also said he was hesitant to designate the “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” actress as “guilty,” according to the New York Post.
“All that implies is that she’s altering her plea,” he said of Monday’s court bombshell. It was even more shocking to Cohen because Shah had just sent his 2-month-old daughter, Lucy, a gift.
“I was like, ‘Jen Shah, that you thought to bring Lucy a present with everything you’ve got going on…’ She was so kind to do that, I just thought it was really lovely of her,” Cohen, who is the father of a 3-year-old kid, said. Radio Andy.’s accusers, however, have the support of the actor who co-hosted Tuesday’s radio show with him, John Hill.
“When you say you’re guilty, it may be because you are guilty,” he said. “Real Housewives of New Jersey” cast member Teresa Giudice, who pled guilty to fraud and was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison in 2014, was mentioned as a possible comparison by a caller.
It was implied that Shah’s supporters would have the same devotion as those who had supported Teresa throughout the years by the caller: There were some differences, however, as Hill and Cohen pointed out, in that Shah’s activities allegedly affected those who were largely above 55 years old, making the cases distinct.
Cohen remarked that:
Viewer response to recent events has shown that some are more offended when there are real-life victims to look at, as with Tom Girardi and what it appears he did. This is something I’ve noticed.”
Girardi is being sued for allegedly embezzling compensation payments meant for the victims’ families of Lion Air Flight 610 (he is Erika Jayne’s ex-husband from “RHOBH” fame). As he continued, “I believe you wind up being more irritated when you know that there are victims,” he said, alluding to Teresa’s ex-husband Joe Giudice, who was found guilty of fraud in 2014.
In March 2021 Shah was arrested
For allegedly defrauding hundreds of people in a telemarketing scam. Jen Shah first denied all claims and continued to insist on her innocence for months afterward.
When she submitted a last-minute move to modify her plea to guilty on Monday, just days before the trial was scheduled to begin, she startled supporters.
Attorney Priya Chaudhry told Page Six that “RHOSLC” star Shah “accepts full responsibility for her acts” and changed the plea because she “wants to pay her obligation to society and put this experience behind her and her family.” Shah will be sentenced on November 28th.
