Based on Bentley Little’s novel of the same name, Tony Basgallop (Servant) created the dark comedy series The Consultant. Together with the show’s star, Hollywood actor Christoph Waltz, Matt Shakman (WandaVision), who also acts as an executive producer, helmed the premiere (Inglourious Basterds).
With caustic humour and lots of unclear puzzles for viewers to over-analyze and try to solve, the programme has a similar aesthetic to Basgallop’s other popular mystery series. Similar to the Apple Original seriesServant, Regus Patoff, the main character, and his numerous intriguing secrets will leave viewers puzzled.
The title character of the programme, Regus Patoff, is portrayed by Christoph Waltz. It’s interesting to note that this is the German actor’s first appearance on an English-language TV show since he initially gained notoriety for his roles in Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, both of which were directed by Quentin Tarantino. After the death of CompWare’s founder Sang Woo, Regus is hired to head the company. After the unfortunate passing of its founder and CEO, Regus rebuilt the company using unique but efficient methods.
Other notable cast members include Craig Horne (Nat Wolff), a programmer who intends to save the business, and Elaine Hayman (Brittany O’Grady), Sang’s creative liaison. Regus coerces these two workers into carrying out his orders as he conducts his dubious after-hours activities. Regus is a shadowy character that leaves a path of devastation and death in his wake.
Following Tony Basgallop‘s success with Server at Apple TV+, can The Consultant be a smash for Prime Video, or will it merely be another one-off series terminated by its streaming service before its time? Let’s talk about The Consultant’s renewal situation.
Will There Be a Season 2 of The Consultant Renewed or Canceled Status?
The Consultant’s renewal status is still uncertain and is presently waiting at Prime Video HQ. The show has the potential to be just as popular as Basgallop’s previous work, Server, which aired on Apple TV+ for four seasons. But, The Consultant’s first season isn’t as interesting or gripping as Serverwas, which may indicate a decline in viewer interest in general. The Consultant presents a lot of riddles and a variety of well-crafted turns, but it is unclear whether viewers will be equally captivated.
The Consultant, on the other hand, would likely be renewed for a second season by Prime Video for a variety of reasons. The actor who won the Academy Award for best actor, Christoph Waltz, is a major hook for the show and his portrayal of Regus Patoff is fascinating. While many narrative aspects remain unresolved and many issues remain unanswered in the conclusion.
We have only begun to delve into Regus and his murky past; there is yet a larger universe to be discovered. This particular plot may even be turned into an anthology series, with each season concentrating on Regus at a new corporation and the main secrets being slowly unveiled over several seasons.
A second season has a lot of potential, so I wouldn’t be shocked if Amazon Video announced it in the next weeks. But as always, we’ll let you know if there are any developments regarding The Consultant’s impending renewal.
