According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Morehead City, Monday’s high is forecast at 50°F under clear skies, with a low of 27°F overnight. Tuesday is expected to be sunny as well, but colder, with a high of 46°F. A sharp temperature drop after sunset Tuesday could bring overnight lows down to 19°F, creating the potential for icy conditions inland.
Wednesday marks the coldest day of the week, with highs only reaching 39°F in the daytime and overnight lows in the single digits for areas further north. Residents are advised to prepare for frigid conditions and ensure outdoor pipes and plants are protected.
By Thursday, slightly warmer conditions return, with highs in the mid-40s and lows near 27°F. Sunshine is expected to continue throughout the week, but another cold front may bring freezing temperatures overnight into Friday.
Travelers along U.S. Highway 70 and other coastal roads should exercise caution during early mornings, as frost could develop. Boaters should monitor weather updates closely for improved conditions later Monday as calmer winds prevail.
