Dodge City, KS — Temperatures in Dodge City will rise into the upper 40s by midweek, providing a reprieve from January’s chill. However, an Arctic air mass threatens to bring significant cooling by the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Monday will start sunny with a high near 40°F, while patchy dense fog could slow early commuters. Winds will remain light, shifting to the south by afternoon. By Wednesday, highs are expected to reach 47°F, with Thursday predicted to bring the warmest temperatures of the week at 48°F.
Drivers are advised to remain cautious during morning hours when visibility may be reduced by fog. Roads like U.S. Route 50 and State Highway 283 should remain clear under sunny skies, providing good travel conditions through Friday.
The NWS warns that conditions will shift sharply over the weekend as Arctic air surges into southwest Kansas. While the exact timing is uncertain, temperatures could plummet, possibly dipping into single digits overnight. Residents should monitor updated forecasts to prepare for colder conditions and any potential weather advisories.
Looking ahead, Friday will remain mild with highs near 43°F, but the cold snap is expected to dominate Saturday and Sunday.
