Wilmington, OH – Snow totals across southwest Ohio ranged from 3 to 4.5 inches overnight, with Dayton recording the highest accumulation. The snow is tapering off Saturday, but residents should prepare for an arctic blast and hazardous driving conditions through early next week.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington, Saturday’s high will reach only 29°F, with wind chills making it feel closer to 18°F. Sunday offers a brief reprieve, with highs near 33°F under partly sunny skies, but colder air returns Monday. Overnight lows will dip to 5°F by Monday night, with wind chill values plummeting to -10°F.
Travelers along major routes such as I-71 should drive cautiously due to remaining slick spots and drifting snow. With temperatures staying below freezing for much of the week, untreated roads may remain icy.
Looking ahead, dangerously low wind chills are expected Tuesday through Thursday. The NWS advises limiting outdoor exposure during this time, as frostbite can occur within minutes. If venturing out, dress in layers and cover exposed skin.
The extended forecast predicts highs of 15°F Tuesday and a frigid -1°F Tuesday night, with slightly warmer conditions by midweek. Residents should also monitor pets, ensuring they are not left outdoors in extreme temperatures.
