Burlington, VT – Residents should prepare for bitterly cold weather as snow showers and subzero wind chills are expected Sunday. A light breeze will make temperatures feel even colder, increasing the risk of frostbite for those exposed to the elements for extended periods.
According to the National Weather Service, light snow is forecast today and may continue into the evening with accumulation totals of up to 2 inches. Tonight’s low is expected to hit 16°F, with calm winds offering brief relief before Arctic air dominates Sunday. Highs tomorrow will barely reach 29°F, but wind chill values could drop significantly below freezing.
Sunday night temperatures will plunge to 18°F as clouds thicken, and winds return, gusting at 5 to 9 mph. Residents are urged to bundle up and avoid extended outdoor activity to reduce the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
Looking ahead, Monday offers a brief reprieve with a high near 32°F under mostly cloudy skies. However, by Tuesday, snow showers return with a 40% chance of precipitation and temperatures peaking at 28°F. Travel along roadways such as I-89 could become slick, and commuters should exercise caution.
Wednesday will bring colder air with a high near 22°F, combined with a northwest wind gusting up to 10 mph, keeping conditions icy. Stay informed by checking the latest updates from the National Weather Service and prepare accordingly for the freezing conditions.
Be sure to dress in layers, keep extra supplies in your vehicle, and monitor road conditions as snow showers and freezing temperatures continue throughout the week.
