Pendleton, OR – Residents of Eastern Oregon should prepare for hazardous weather as strong winds and freezing fog are set to impact the region starting Friday afternoon. A wind advisory has been issued from 4 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday, with gusts up to 50 mph expected in the foothills of the Blue Mountains.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory includes areas near Pendleton, Heppner, and Condon, as well as sections of Highway 395. The weather will remain unsettled into the weekend. Rain is likely Friday morning, followed by a slight chance of showers Friday night. Temperatures will dip to around 30°F, with freezing fog potentially forming overnight. Saturday will bring mostly sunny skies, with highs near 44°F, but foggy conditions may return Saturday night into Sunday morning.
By Sunday, rain chances are low, but patchy freezing fog will persist, keeping road conditions slippery. Drivers are urged to monitor forecasts and prepare for delays. The cold snap will continue into Monday, with daytime highs in the low 40s and freezing fog likely early in the morning.
