Los Angeles, CA – A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for Los Angeles County through 6 p.m. Friday as strong Santa Ana winds and low humidity create critical fire conditions. Residents are urged to take precautions and avoid activities that could spark fires.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), northeast winds will reach 30 to 50 mph, with gusts as high as 70 mph in mountain areas. Humidity levels are expected to drop as low as 5% in some locations, creating a dangerous environment for rapid fire spread. The strongest winds will affect foothill areas and the Hollywood Hills.

Friday will bring continued sunny conditions, with highs near 70 degrees and breezy northeast winds. Temperatures will cool slightly over the weekend, with sunny skies and highs near 66 degrees Saturday and Sunday.

The NWS warns that power outages, tree damage, and downed power lines are possible due to high winds. Residents near wildfire-prone areas are advised to prepare for potential evacuations and review emergency plans.

This critical fire risk underscores the importance of avoiding outdoor burning and securing flammable materials. Officials also urge travelers to be cautious on roadways, especially near I-5 and the 101 Freeway, where wind gusts may impact driving conditions.

The forecast for early next week shows continued sunny skies with highs near 70 degrees. However, the ongoing dry weather will prolong fire danger.
