A North Carolina woman is facing an arrest warrant for allegedly attempting to steal thousands of dollars from a Missouri energy provider. The woman is accused of stealing a check from the mail and using it as part of her scheme.
In an update from the Clinton County, Missouri, Circuit Court, it has come to light that Destinee A. McCormick, a 26-year-old resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina, has been charged with involvement in a case concerning a stolen check from the U.S. Postal Service. The court records, filed on Friday, Jan. 3, provide this information.
According to a probable cause statement filed by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, the owner of Frazier Energy, LLC, had sent a check to a company they regularly do business with in August. Unfortunately, the check was believed to have been lost in the mail as it never reached its intended destination.
In September, investigators discovered that the identical check had been “washed” and deposited into McCormick’s bank account, totaling $9,641. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for her arrest on Friday and a $2,500 bond was attached.
As of Wednesday, Jan. 8, it seems that McCormick is not currently in custody in either Missouri or North Carolina. We do not have any additional information at this time.
