According to China Central Television Station and Xinhua News Agency, the fire started on Friday night at Yingcai School in Yanshanpu Village, which is close to Nanyang City in the province of Henan.
Based on CCTV, China’s official broadcaster, one individual who was saved from the site was receiving medical attention in the hospital.
It was claimed that around 11:38 p.m., firemen put out the fire and arrested the school’s head.
According to The Paper, a news organization supported by the Shanghai government, Yingcai is a private boarding school that offers kindergarten and elementary education.
Twice a week, the school gives its students a break, but according to multiple locals cited by The Paper, this was not an official weekend.
It stated that a lot of Yingcai’s students are from rural areas and that the fire broke out at approximately 10 p.m. (UK time).
