Ankle Monitor Leads to Arrest

Authorities reveal that Raekwon Blount, previously convicted in the 2016 Hustle Mart murders, was arrested on Thursday for being an accessory after the fact to murder. Blount had taken a missing person report for Ruffin, but the investigation led authorities to discover Ruffin’s lifeless body. The incident has sparked renewed concerns about the challenges of reintegration into society for ex-convicts.

Sheriff Paula Dance disclosed that Blount’s ankle monitor was crucial in solving the case. By retracing the monitor’s data, law enforcement located Ruffin’s body in a wooded area. Blount, tracked through the same device, is now held without bond at the Pitt County Jail. The incident raises questions about the effectiveness and limitations of electronic monitoring for released offenders.

Sheriff Dance has revealed that a person of interest is known to them, with whom they’ve had a phone conversation. Authorities are eager to engage in further discussions with this individual. The unfolding investigation underscores the importance of community cooperation and encourages anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.

Family members, including Ruffin’s aunt Tomecker Jones, remember Zytorious as a humble and kind-hearted individual who cherished his family, pets, and nieces and nephews. Despite the tragedy, the family is determined to await justice for their loved one. The case highlights the broader impact of violence on families and communities.

Sheriff Dance appeals to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information about Ruffin’s murder to contact the Pitt County Sheriff’s office. As the investigation continues, the community’s involvement becomes crucial in bringing closure to the grieving family and ensuring that justice prevails for Zytorious Ruffin.
