Attorneys for former president Donald Trump contended in a recent court declaration that the federal lawsuit against him is “legally motivated,” alleging that he held onto confidential materials.
The documents, which were submitted on Tuesday, outline the potential legal technique that Trump’s defence team may employ to dispute the allegations made against him.
The documents mention the case that resulted in Mr. Trump’s first impeachment and state that “a single of the methods by which President Trump is going to defend that testimony is by showing that the Intelligence Community has functioned with a bias towards him going back to possibly the 2019 whistleblower complaint connecting to his phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.”
