Former President Donald Trump leads the Iowa State University-Civiqs survey ahead of the Iowa Republican caucuses. The last poll, released Thursday, indicates 55% of respondents prefer Trump.
Trump Leads Iowa State University-Civiqs Poll Before Caucuses
This number is much ahead of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, who tied at 14%. The race is stable, according to the survey. Trump’s support rose marginally from the December poll, while DeSantis and Haley’s fell.
Iowa State University Lucken Professor of Political Science Dave Peterson, who organized the ISU/Civiqs survey, noted the race’s consistency. Many likely caucusgoers who entered the election supporting Donald Trump have held that position throughout, nearly half of the respondents.
Since September, the Iowa State-Civiqs survey has been published monthly. The current results reflect the opinions of 433 registered Iowa voters likely to attend the Republican caucuses on Monday. The poll was conducted January 5–10 with a 6.4 percentage point margin of error.

Iowa Republican U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson, of Marion, reported generating over $550,000 in the most recent fundraising quarter and having more than $1.4 million in cash for her re-election campaign.
Former state senator and news anchor Hinson wants a third term in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District, which includes Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Waterloo, and Grinnell. Sarah Corkery, a Cedar Falls Democrat and small-business owner, is challenging Hinson but has not published her final fundraising reports for 2023.
