In the case of ballot access to the US Supreme Court, former President Donald J. Trump is being represented by the former Texas solicitor general and creator of the state’s pro-life Heartbeat Act.

The Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling to refuse Trump ballot access on the grounds of his “disqualification” from office for “engaging in insurrection”—a reference to the Capitol riot on January 6—was accepted for consideration by the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday, January 5.

Trump’s attorney, Jonathan Mitchell, was Texas’ solicitor general from 2010 to 2015 and runs a private legal practice in Austin. Mitchell has presented arguments in front of appellate courts over twenty times and the US Supreme Court 5 times.
