An adolescent male was killed late at midnight in Canarsie, according to the officials.
The 15-year-old Javel Lawton was fatally wounded in his chest outside the Bay View Houses on 102nd Street as the NYPD reached at 9 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the hospital after being taken there.
According to family acquaintances, the teenager moved a few miles away after growing up in the Bay View Houses area. Lawton is reportedly a former student of the Canarsie Educational Campus, and his classmates are currently receiving assistance.
It’s extremely devastating. And according to everything I’ve heard, he was very young.
