Florida Man’s Unusual Christmas Eve Escape: ‘Dirt Angels’ and Construction Site Pursuit Caught on Tape

Rios was engaged in a one-vehicle accident in Tampa. He fled the crash site before police arrived. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office recognized Rios as the driver and said he scaled a fence into a major construction site to escape deputies.

Rios’ escape was filmed by the sheriff’s Aviation Unit. The footage showed him reclining on a pile of soil on the building site, forming “dirt angels.” According to the pilot reporting to the ground deputies, he made phone calls while lying with his arms behind his head.

Rios was arrested after attempting a fast escape. The airborne video showed him jumping up and trying to climb a fence, but three deputies and a K-9 caught him.
