Protective Order Violation Leads to Tragedy

Despite the court-issued emergency order of protection, Brown reportedly violated its terms, fatally shooting Roque on December 13. The order prohibited any contact, harassment, stalking, or intimidation, as well as restricting Brown from taking custody of their 8-year-old daughter. The tragic incident highlights the challenges and potential shortcomings of protective measures in cases of domestic violence.

Prior to Brown’s arrest, Chicago police sought public assistance in locating him. The Cook County Crime Stoppers had planned to distribute flyers offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Fortunately, minutes before the distribution, news of Brown’s arrest emerged. The community’s cooperation and information sharing played a crucial role in aiding law enforcement in apprehending the suspect.
