After the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that former President Donald Trump is unable to run on the state’s ballot due to his claimed role in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham supported him.
Graham Backs Trump Amidst Colorado Ballot Ruling, Foresees Legal Victory and Primary Success
The court, all Democratic nominees, voted 4-3, citing a 14th Amendment clause that bars insurrectionists from office.
Graham does not feel the Colorado judgment is lawful, despite Trump’s court successes in other states with similar grounds. He expects the Supreme Court to reverse a “political decision” and put Trump on Colorado’s ballot.
Graham stated this in an ABC News “This Week.” interview with Pierre Thomas. Once legal impediments are cleared, he anticipated Trump’s primary victory.

Graham Supports Trump’s Eligibility but Urges Forward Focus for 2024 Election
Graham defended Trump’s eligibility but advised him to focus on the future rather than the 2020 race. Graham stressed accepting the 2020 election outcomes and worrying about 2024. He told Trump to give a vision for American security and prosperity to win. Graham cautioned that reviving 2020 election fraud concerns could hurt Trump.
Graham stated that he accepts the 2020 election results and considers it over. The senator advised Trump to focus on a forward-looking vision to improve his election chances.
Graham disagrees with the Colorado Supreme Court’s verdict, supporting Trump’s appeal. He tells Trump to focus on the future, worried that repeating election fraud charges will hurt his 2024 chances.
