The driver who struck and killed an Oceanside pedestrian has been confirmed as an off-duty NYPD officer, based on the state attorney general.

After Adrian Wilburne was hit by a car when crossing the junction of Merrick and Oceanside roads, he sadly lost his life in a terrible accident. This sad event happened on Saturday about 2 in the morning. News 12 already covered this information.

The motorist acted rapidly, contacting the police right away and staying on the site until they showed there.

Any time a citizen dies as a result of a police officer’s actions, the Attorney General’s Office is required by state law to launch a comprehensive inquiry into the incident.
