Social media was in confusion over the weekend due to Google rumors of Eminem’s passing.

On December 9, fans started posting the hashtag #RIPEminem together with their Google search results for the music legend, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, on social media. According to the results, Eminem passed away on December 10, 2023, possibly in Madison, Wisconsin.

Luckily for fans, there was false information regarding Slim Shady’s demise. It seems that a fool changed the hip-hop artist’s Wikipedia entry to indicate he passed away, changing the results of a Google search as well.

The fake stories demonstrated the ease with which false information can grow on the internet, especially because social media has already been used to magnify rumors regarding Eminem’s death.
