Portland Police responded to a vicious dog attack early Tuesday morning at approximately 7:38 am in the Parkrose Heights Neighborhood

The woman, identified as the homeowner and owner of the dogs involved, went to great lengths to stop the brutal assault, even resorting to grabbing a firearm, though it was not used, as confirmed by PPB Public Information Officer Mike Benner in a statement to Fox affiliate KPTV. Despite her efforts, the six-year-old victim, Loyalty Charles Scott, tragically lost his life at the scene.

“Our hearts break for this little boy, for his family, for his friends,” expressed Benner, emphasizing the shocking nature of the incident, which occurred just weeks before Christmas, leaving the community in disbelief.

The dreadful episode unfolded when the boy followed the woman into her garage, where two Great Dane-Mastiff mixes vicious dog attacked him. The woman, sustaining minor injuries, was later identified as a friend of the victim’s grandmother, who regularly entrusted her with taking the boy to school.

Police revealed that the boy had been explicitly instructed to steer clear of both the dogs and the garage

As investigations proceed, it was disclosed that the two dogs directly involved in the vicious dog attack were euthanized by Wednesday, while a third dog present in the house at the time remains in the custody of Multnomah County Animal Services.

In an emotional statement on a GoFundMe page, Loyalty Charles Scott’s family mourned the loss of the vibrant and joyful six-year-old. The fundraiser, aimed at supporting the grieving mother, had garnered nearly $5,000 of its $10,000 goal by Saturday. While it is too early to determine potential charges, the PPB’s Child Abuse Team and Homicide Unit are actively investigating the heartbreaking incident.
