Sen. Fetterman, speaking on “The View” shortly after the expulsion vote, expressed his lack of surprise at George Anthony Devolder Santos’ removal and shifted the focus to Sen. Menendez, whom he accused of engaging in more serious and sinister activities. As the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Menendez is accused of accepting bribes, including a Mercedes Benz and gold bars, in exchange for assisting the Egyptian government. Fetterman insisted that if George Anthony Devolder Santos could be expelled, Menendez should face the same fate, emphasizing the need for consistency in such decisions.
Responding to Fetterman’s repeated calls for expulsion, Menendez criticized the senator, stating that Fetterman seemed more interested in clickbait than justice. Menendez asserted his confidence in being exonerated when all the facts were presented, accusing Fetterman of undermining his rights and disregarding core constitutional principles.

Fetterman questioned Menendez’s popularity in New Jersey and Menendez dismissed Fetterman’s focus on the matter as being consumed by trivialities. Notably, this is the second time Menendez has faced bribery charges, the first instance resulting in a mistrial in 2017 due to the jury’s inability to reach a verdict.
As the controversy unfolds, Fetterman’s persistent calls for Menendez’s ousting and Menendez’s staunch defense against the allegations continue to create tension within the Senate, raising questions about the ethical standards and accountability of its members.
