Black Youth Mental Health Worsens Even More Following Increasing Racial Discrimination Cases

The Black youth mental health continued to worsen even more following the increasing cases of racial discrimination, wherein the Black youth mental health has been affected by several factors, including the pandemic and other types of discrimination directed towards the Black community.

According to a report published in Time, the Black youth mental health had already been worse as early as four years old within their playtime or during break time in school as youth of other races have been expressing negative attitudes towards Black children, slowly affecting Black youth mental health until it gets worse.

With the worsening Black youth mental health, children have been turning to deadly habits, including alcohol abuse and using drugs, leading to various diseases, or worse, the worsening Black youth mental health also risen the high suicide rates in Black youth.

Health Experts Demand Administration and Leaders to Address Crisis in Black Youth Mental Health

Following the Black youth mental health crisis, health experts demanded the administration and leaders include Black children in their priorities while addressing mental health crises, including services that will not discriminate against them.

Hospitals, mental health clinics, and even schools should ensure children of every race will never have to experience racial discrimination and continue to address the worsening Black youth mental health, the Association of Health Care Journalists reported.
