The North Carolina Education Lottery is urgently advising players to double-check their tickets following Friday’s Mega Millions draw, as a life-changing prize might be waiting to be claimed

“Check your tickets!” emphasized the North Carolina Education Lottery on social media, egging the winner to come forward. The odds of snagging a $1 million jackpot in the Mega Millions draw are 1 in 12.6 million, as stated on the North Carolina Education Lottery’s website. Despite these slim chances, the lucky individual from Greensboro managed to beat the odds. However, they must claim their prize within six months at the North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters in Raleigh, approximately 76 miles away from Greensboro.

Similar situations are also unfolding elsewhere in the country. In Ohio, a $4 million Mega Millions win remains unclaimed. The winning ticket was sold at the Toledo 76 gas station in Swanton, with the winning numbers drawn on Tuesday, November 14-25, 35, 59, 61, and 69-though missing the Mega Ball number 22.

The Ohio Lottery, like the North Carolina Education Lottery, is encouraging players to verify their tickets, reminding them they have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings

Unclaimed North Carolina Education Lottery prizes are not uncommon in various states, generating excitement and prompting more ticket purchases. For instance, a Pennsylvania ticket holder has yet to come forward to claim a $2.26 million Match 6 Lotto prize from Monday’s draw.
