Tragedy struck at the New Hampshire State Hospital in Concord on Friday afternoon, resulting in the demise of both a suspect and a victim due to a shooting incident

New Hampshire State Police Col. Mark Hall addressed the concerning event, specifying that the active shooter situation was contained within the New Hampshire State Hospital‘s front lobby. Reassuring the public, he emphasized the absence of any ongoing threat from the shooter to the wider community. The scene remains active as officials investigate a suspicious vehicle found on-site.

The victim, identified as Bradley Haas, a 63-year-old retired police chief from Franklin, New Hampshire, was working as a security guard at the hospital, as disclosed by the N.H. Attorney General’s office. The authorities confirmed that the suspect, after being shot, was killed by a New Hampshire State trooper who was stationed at the hospital.

Law enforcement earlier suggested “multiple victims” in the shooting but later clarified that only one person was shot and later succumbed to injuries at the New Hampshire State Hospital

The New Hampshire Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management alerted the public to the unfolding situation and subsequently confirmed its containment while urging people to steer clear of the area.

Governor Chris Sununu addressed the incident, assuring the containment of the situation at the New Hampshire State Hospital while expressing condolences and emphasizing the swift mobilization of state resources to manage the crisis.

The New Hampshire State Hospital, a facility accommodating 185 beds for acute psychiatric care, maintains its security force and implements stringent security measures for visitors, including metal detectors. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
