Kahleah Copper, who recently won the 2021 WNBA title with the Chicago Sky, expressed her excitement about the opportunity to give back to the program that shaped her into the player and person she is today. Rutgers coach Coquese Washington described the players’ reaction upon hearing the news of Copper coaching them as having “eyes as big as saucers.”
This marks Kahleah Copper’s alternate adventure into coaching, having preliminarily served as an adjunct for the Purdue University Northwest basketball team in the 2020-21 season. Reflecting on her coaching experience, Kahleah Copper emphasized her newfound appreciation for giving, leadership, and thickness.

The former Philadelphia player, drafted by the Washington Mystics in 2016 and later traded to Chicago in 2017, boasts an impressive career, including being named the finals MVP and WNBA champion.
Kahleah Copper joins a growing trend of WNBA players entering college coaching, aligning with the likes of Rhyne Howard, Ariel Atkins, Rachel Banham, and Brionna Jones taking on coaching roles at various universities this season.
