A new COVID variant, HV.1, has arisen and is currently spreading throughout the United States as the lung virus season approaches and health officials are administering revised COVID-19 vaccines.
The newly discovered omicron subvariant has quickly surpassed previous strains, such as EG.5 aka Eris, to claim the lead in the United States. Health officials are keeping an eye on HV.1, the new variation that is causing over 25% of COVID-19 cases as of late October, since they are worried about a potential winter COVID-19 outbreak.
The most recent information from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that over the 2 weeks ending on October 28, HV.1 was estimated to be responsible for 25.2% of new COVID-19 cases.
