In New York state, 3.8 cents of gas prices dropped since last week, now averaging $3.70 per gallon.
Gas prices dropped across the United States, with the national average plummeting 38 cents this month to $3.44 per gallon
Recent data from GasBuddy reveals that in New York, gas prices are 15.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 5.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average is down by 36.3 cents per gallon compared to last month and 27.4 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.
This marks the lowest national average since March 28, with projections indicating a potential further 10 to 20-cent gas prices drop by year-end. Currently, drivers in 33 states can find at least one gas station offering prices at $2.99 per gallon or lower.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that average gasoline prices have decreased for six consecutive weeks in nearly every state
The West Coast has experienced some of the most significant declines which saw an 80-cent gas prices drop in the past four weeks. De Haan believes there may be an additional 10-20 cent drop in the national average in the coming weeks, but cautions that any disruptions in the Middle East could impact this trend.
Data from GasBuddy also indicates a 1 percent decrease in national demand for U.S. retail gasoline over the past week. The most common price per gallon reported by motorists is now $3.19, a 10-cent decrease from last week. The top 10% of gas stations are reporting an average of $5.09 per gallon, while the bottom 10% average $2.80 per gallon. California, Hawaii, and Washington currently have the highest average prices per gallon at $5.26, $4.70, and $4.66 respectively, while Georgia boasts the lowest average at $2.93, with Texas and Mississippi tied at $2.94.
