Grand Canyon University Fined Millions After Deceiving More Than 7,500 Students of Doctorate Programs in Tuition Costs

The Grand Canyon University was fined $37.7 million after lying to more than 7,500 students of doctorate programs about tuition costs, wherein Grand Canyon University deceived doctorate students into having them pay higher amounts than other students, increasing their student loans.

According to a report published in Yahoo Finance, some posts on the university website claimed and accused that Grand Canyon University increased the tuition costs for doctorate students as most of them have paid up to $12,000 more than the normal tuition costs they were supposed to pay to Grand Canyon University.

Following the allegations against the Grand Canyon University, the Education Department fined the university $37.7 million for deceiving thousands of students and encouraged the affected students to apply for loan debt relief or loan defense discharge programs to get back the tuition costs from the Grand Canyon University.

Grand Canyon University Denies Allegations of Deceiving Thousands of Students in Paying Higher Tuition Costs

Despite the claims towards Grand Canyon University, the university denied all the allegations against them and claimed they did not deceive thousands of students into paying higher tuition costs.

The Education Department took legal action against Grand Canyon University to prevent other schools and universities from deceiving students and increasing their student debt, Inside Higher Ed reported.
